HS hockey 2023: Little was predictable

When he entered the room for the last set of postgame interviews after a long day of state finals at TD Garden, Shrewsbury girls hockey coach Frank Panarelli didn’t need more than five seconds to point out who picked against his team in the Div. 1 game, and thank them for the motivation. Not many backed it against a St. Mary’s (L) team favored from the preseason to win it all, but the star-studded Colonials dominated defensively to secure the program’s first state title. As we reflect on another thrilling year, it seems only fitting for that Div. 1 girls final to be the last game of the MIAA boys and girls hockey season. By MARK ANDERSON (AP Sports Writer)LAS VEGAS (AP) — March Madness is down to eight teams, and often by this point, nearly all the expected top teams are still playing. JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant called on Saturday for an immediate and temporary halt to the far-right government’s contentious plan to overhaul the judiciary, the first public dissent from within Prime Minister Benjamin’s coalition. Citing the need for dialogue with the opposition, Gallant asked Netanyahu’s coalition to wait until after the Jewish passover holiday that begins on April 5 before pushing ahead with its divisive plan to overhaul the judiciary. He said he is worried that the overhaul plans pose a threat to the country’s security. The plan has sparked the largest protest movement in Israel’s history, bringing thousands to face off against police in the streets weekly. “I will not take part in this,” Gallant said, although did not elaborate on what would happen if the government pressed on. Critics say the reservoirs sustain ecologically unsustainable types of industrial farming and imprison water that would otherwise naturally irrigate soils and feed rivers and streams.Video footage showed protesters advancing in clouds of tear gas, police vehicles burn...
